Azizul Syafizal Bin Azmy believes that one of the most important characteristics of a good successful real estate agent is local knowledge, it helps to acquire a good working knowledge of other relevant communities and neighbourhoods before you deal with clients. And also, the others element to become successful real estate agent is branding yourself, branding yourself means to develop a unique professional identity and coherent message that sets you apart from others either in your company or in your industry.
- Why did you choose to enter the real estate industry?
Flexibility: A flexible work environment is beneficial for me. I have more freedom to work in an environment that is conducive to increasing the output and work rate. Since the working time is flexible, we can set a meeting with client that suitable with their time too. So, from there I can manage my own time to work.
Unlimited Income: There’s no doubt where there are some really high incentives for real estate professionals. The commission on a single sale can be more than the average yearly salary. That is one of the key attractions for me get into this industry.
Career Opportunities: Usually, with an office job, the growth opportunities are significantly slower, take a years to growth. Real estate does not follow the same rules. If you have grown your portfolio to a certain level, you can enjoy fast-paced growth.
Tremendous Networking: To have a successful career in real estate it is important to have people skills. That could be the deciding factor between a successful career. You need to be able to make the most of these opportunities. And in most cases, you will need to be talented enough to create these opportunities for yourself.
Is a Rewarding Career: There aren’t many career opportunities that are as rewarding as real estate. How many times does the average person expect to buy a house in their lifetimes? As real estate agents, you are able to help people get their dream homes. Or you can help a new couple buy their first home. Buying a home is a big personal achievement for most and you are a big part of it.

- What are the entry standard for entering this industry?
The real estate industry is very big. It includes so many different fields that you can specialize in. This is why it is important for someone to be passionate about real estate agent career. Because no matter the field you choose, a career in real estate is a demanding one. A career in real estate is something you need to be passionate about. Unlike other jobs, one in real estate has no ‘offs. You’re always on the move, making connections and finding opportunities. Because everyone wants to, at some point, buy a home or property for investments.
To sell real estate you need to be able to use everything in your arsenal. Most marketing professionals today would advise you to do everything online. From Search Engine Optimization (SEO) to social media management and even online advertising. But real estate agents realize that things like “behavioural change technology” may take you further. Real estate professionals have learned that relying on interpersonal skills is more important. Above all else, making connections is how you succeed in the real estate industry.
- What qualities do you think a real estate agent should possess to succeed in this industry?
One of the most important characteristics of a good real estate agent is local knowledge. You can never become a successful estate agent if you do not know your local area. It also helps to acquire a good working knowledge of other relevant communities and neighborhoods before you deal with clients. You must have a passion to serve people because this industry is dealing with the people. The best real estate agents are good with people and know how to communicate the interests of their clients. In addition, many agents who want to make it big in the real estate industry fail in one important aspect which is “FOLLOW UP”. When you fail to take every lead you get, you are less likely to become a top performer. Following up every lead is crucial in achieving success. However, integrity, ethics and knows the rules and regulation are the key component in the life of real estate agent. With this regard’s reputation matters and all this component will make you as a quality real estate agent.
- How did you stand out in the industry and make customers to choose you?
The main factor to be stand out in this industry is you need to “Branding Yourself”. What does it mean to branding yourself? Branding yourself means to develop a unique professional identity and coherent message that sets you apart from others either in your company or in your industry.
What make you different from others with providing legendary customer service. Treat your customers like royalty, the belief that customer service only matters in the service industry is a myth. All customers have an expectation of great service and will not put up with waiting in long lines or receiving poor responses from representatives.
With admit a mistakes and fix problems will build stronger relationships and trust. Customers equate experience with brands. If they have even one bad experience that remains unresolved, they will write off the brand. And negative feedback spreads like wildfire through social media and word of mouth. You need to be on top of your game to improve the customer experience, sometimes by going far out of your way. One major point is to accept your mistakes, whether they are your fault or not. In fact, customer relationships can actually be stronger after a problem than before, if handled well by your people.
Honesty is not just the best policy; it should be your main policy. Can’t deliver by a due date? Call and let your buyers know. One of your field reps messed up on a bid? Immediately have a tough conversation with your client. Lying to customers is like shooting yourself in the foot. If your customers catch you lying, they will lose faith in you and may even spread negative feedback about your business.
Continue to reinvent your company by adopting emerging technologies and introducing new processes, products and solutions. For example, make use of social media and mobile apps as a growing number of buyers prefer to find and work with you through their phones.
- In your personal sales career, what has left you with impressive memories?
For me the impressive memories when I see smile from my client especially from my buyer when they managed to buy their dream house and from the owner that I managed to sell their house. It is because each and every time when I managed to help the buyer to buy their dream house it will bring happiness to his whole family. Where there’s the place for them to take refuge. And when I managed to help owner to sell their house its really means a lot to some of them when they really need the money to survive.
“The best memory of a sale I won was when I was able to win the sale against all odds. The hard-won sales are the most rewarding to me.”
- Who do you want to thank the most?
I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my agency Maxxan Reality Sdn Bhd for giving me an opportunity to explore more in this industry and to enhance my career path. Not to forget to my team who are giving a full support and commitment to grow together in this industry.
I am extremely grateful to my family for their love, prayer, caring and understanding and giving the full support to me to become real estate agent. This career is really challenging for me because before I decided to be a real estate agent, I was a relationship manager in one of the foreign banks. However, with trust and support from my family after 5 years in this industry I managed to stand strong and grow together with my team where I can create my own income and It is unlimited income compared to what I had before which is fixed on every month. And last but not least, to all my friends and my clients who are giving all the support and full trust on my service.
- How do you lead the team and make it easier for team members to succeed in this industry?
Maintain good communication and be open minded. To kept team member in the loop about ongoing projects, goals, and deadlines, so it’s essential that you have communicate well with them and inform them about goings-on within the organization.
Knowing team members individually, not only on a professional level but on a more personal level too. To get to know a bit more about them, about what are doing and what they are interested in, it will build a much better rapport among the team.
By providing positive feedback it will help to build their confidence and encourage them to get more involved in the future, so it’s vital that acknowledge their achievements and the effort that they are putting in. Encourage creativity and ensure that everyone is clear about what is expected of them.
Part of why it is vital that to establish a relationship with the team, because can determine their strength and weaknesses. People perform better and are more engaged in roles where they feel they are employing their best skills, so delegating proper functions that suit each will have a significant impact on the team productivity.
With guidance and inspiration, it’s essential to set a good example in-order to gain respect from the team. To expect them to behave professionally and commit to their work, I will make sure that I’m continuing giving a good example and support to them accordingly.
- How should a new real estate agent choose a real estate agency?
First and foremost, as a new agent you need to search an agency with good and proven track record. Don’t only see the current record but the consistency of the performance and the direction of the agency.
“Happy Workplace” is part of important criteria need to be look at. When you feel happy you will enjoy on what you doing. The happiness has multiplied effect contagious and, when encouraged, can spread throughout an entire team and agency. When you feel good the positive environment will appear and will bring a right attitude, reduce stress and increase productivity.
The agency also needs to update and to upgrade their administration and arrangement of their operation systematically in line with the progress of the present.
- Technology is changing the world, what real estate agent should do?
The shift is real. As technology takes over certain tasks and frees up time for people to reshape traditional marketing roles and these roles will increasingly rely on human skills and values. The real estate agent should get used with the new norm which is using online marketing. In this current situation which is the whole world are facing a pandemic Covid-19 all of agent should immediately shift their marketing strategy by using online marketing to engaged with their client.
- What are your personal plans for the future?
As this industry is my passion, I hope that I can learn more about real estate industry so I can be one of property investor in future.
To be on a career path I want to expanding my team nationwide and at the same time to encourage more people and guide them to be a quality real estate agent in Malaysia.
- Are there any problems in this industry that you feel obligated to let the public or those who want to enter this industry need to pay attention?
Becoming a good Real Estate Agent is usually easier said than done, especially in the current competitive market. I believe the major factor failure to become a quality real estate agent is without knowledge and passion towards this industry. Furthermore, without proper guidance and encouragement from agency, leader and team member also will make you demotivated and un-productive agent. There is why that is important for you to choose the right agency and team to work with.
