Starting his venture in 2011, Chong’s proudest milestone is THE BEAN, a specialty café founded in 2016 in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. What began as a hands-on experiment after five years of office life has now become a decade-strong local landmark. To him, THE BEAN is not just a business—it’s a space for connection, learning, and belonging.

As a leader, Chong positions himself not as a boss, but as a tutor. He leads by example, shares knowledge freely, and supports his team’s growth without blame or ego. “Leadership,” he notes, “is not about command—it’s about climbing together.”

The pandemic brought its toughest trial, yet Chong credits years of team trust and brand consistency for THE BEAN’s survival and rebound. “Stability,” he says, “is not stagnation—it’s standing still with purpose.”
疫情期间，他面临前所未有的考验，但凭借长期建立的企业文化与稳固的社群基础，THE BEAN 不但撑过封锁期，还在后疫情时代迅速恢复元气。他认为：“稳定不是停滞，而是一种有目标的静止。”

In the next three years, Chong will be strengthening team capabilities, deepening service quality, and polishing the operational soul of each brand. For him, entrepreneurship isn’t about racing—it’s about staying rooted while growing upward.
